Human Rights Offsets/Credits

Purchasing the basic products that we use in everyday life from countries that abuse human rights supports those governments and their inhumane policies. For instance, some products from the People's Republic of China are made with workers that suffer under slave-like conditions with little or no pay. Other workers are corralled by local officials to serve up to three years in "Reform Through Labor" camps (laogaiju) without a trial and the Bingtuan (XPCC) which provides agriculture products and also serves as an arm of the People's Liberation Army to maintain a tight grip on the population of Xinjiang (Eastern Turkestan.)

Unfortunately, boycotts of products manufactured in the People's Republic of China have not worked and with many large chain stores having a predominance of PRC produced goods, the funding of the regime continues as well as the human rights abuses. Since many people do not have the means to purchase goods from only human-rights friendly countries, another alternative is necessary.

Freedom's Herald suggest that for every dollar spent on Chinese goods, a dollar donation be made to a human rights organization. (See list at bottom.)

Such a bold statement shows that everyday citizens are aware of the human rights abuses and are willing to support the people who work everyday to change the situation.

Please consider making a donation today to offset the Human Rights violations that are unintentionally being funded by our purchases.

Organizations:

Note that freedomsherald.org, the creator of this idea and webpage, is not asking for any Human Rights Offset Credit donations, nor will any be accepted. Freedom's Herald believes that to do so would be self-serving and against the interests of people working to stop human rights abuses.
